About the Artist

Yoko Hasebe is a Japanese glass artist based in Akita, Japan. She graduated from Akita Public University of Fine Arts and Crafts and has worked as an instructor at Shirakami Glass Studio. She currently serves as the deputy director of Akita City Araya Glass Studio.

Inspired by the natural landscapes of Akita, Hasebe creates glassworks that capture a sense of quietness, poetry, and the delicate atmosphere of nature. Her pieces reflect the subtle changes of light, seasons, and the surrounding environment.

About the Work

The “Midnight Rain” series expresses the tranquil scene of rain falling in the stillness of night. Combining traditional glassblowing techniques with carefully carved surface details, Hasebe creates unique textures that beautifully interact with light and shadow.

Each tumbler is individually handcrafted, making every piece slightly different. The gentle texture and depth of the glass bring a calm and refined presence to everyday moments, whether enjoyed with whisky or used as a special drinking vessel.
